"Your vlog has a relaxed format and is an example of the innumerable possibilities of how the presentation of the surf forecast can be seen, at a time when the modality is on the rise." Now this one needed a good old google translate and my FBI hat on. Checking my view stat's on YouTube, I noticed an influx of views on an oldish video all coming from an external site 'Surftotal.com'. Going onto the website, it was all in Portuguese but if you go to the UK translate then half the links are gone... so it was time to be detective Kat and find out what drove the viewers to my channel! Facebook did me proud once again where I had spotted my name with a link attached to an article. Using google translate, the article was titled English surfer creates surf forecasting channel on YouTube. If you have a Portuguese friend to translate the article that would be handy; or lit you're like me, copy and paste into Google Translate to have a read! https://surft...
What’s your favourite weather joke or motto? “You have to put up with the rain to see the rainbow!” photo by Megan Hemsworth @Mother Ivy's Bay I have never been good at writing, nor am I fan of reading - in fact , I don't even think I finished reading my GCSE English literature book before going into the exam. So when I received a direct message on Instagram from Surf Girl magazine asking for an interview, instead of my first thought being 'OMG ek' it was... I honestly was so nervous waiting for the questions. I have no idea why but then when the questions arrived in my inbox I couldn't wait to get writing and share my journey with others! Thank you Surf Girl Magazine for featuring me on your website and Instagram feed - a truly inspiring magazine full of all thin...
"I was on a live feed with a Stephanie Gilmore Roxy advert shown just before me!' @markusbrownphoto Wowweee, I think this has been the highlight of my journey so far - let's take a step back and I'll explain! A few weeks ago (depending when you are reading this) I had one of those notifications on my Facebook that I just couldn't get rid of, you know the ones that just get lost somewhere in the universe. Digging a little deeper, it was in fact a message from the team at UK Pro Surf Tour who had sent me a lovely message asking for a surf forecast for their Night Surf competition. Ekk...Not only that but they offered me the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the competition at Fistral Beach and even go live on the evening feed with the amazing commentators - Lee and Sam. I decided to make the most of this amazing opportunity and booked myself an Air bnb on Friday night to meet the team and see what I was getting involved ...
